Brief History:
Sabine Renate Blasendorf was born to an older couple that came to Thalland City
from their native Nachtwelt. She shared a special kinship with her sister
Ute, who was born two years after her. The two were their own best
friends. Sabine was never musically inclined until she was 13, when she
saw some of her classmates, who had formed their own band, performing at a
“Battle of the Bands” event held at her school. It was then she knew she
wanted to play the drums, the solid beats pounded as her heart. She
worked hard for the money for a drum set, and when she did, she practiced as much
as her parents would allow.
However, she was confused about her sexuality. She felt attracted to
boys, but she could feel her eyes wander to view women as well. At 15,
she admitted to herself that she was bisexual and wasn’t afraid of that
fact. However, she didn’t tell her parents, only her sister Ute.
She pursued a few relationships with guys and other lesbians, but kept them a
secret from everybody except Ute. She hooked up with some of her friends
who formed their own band and became their drummer. She found herself
quite attracted to the female lead singer; an old friend of hers named Judith,
but didn’t say anything. It took some time for her to work up the
courage, but eventually Sabine told Judith how she felt about her, and Judith’s
reaction was one of surprise, shock, even revulsion. She was quite
homophobic and her prejudices overrode the friendship they built. Judith
told the other band members, attempting to kick Sabine out. She succeeded
in swaying the rest of the band against her. They ordered her to leave
the band, which hurt her feelings considerably. Her parents heard about
what happened and they were quite angry with her because they didn’t approve of
their daughter being gay. At her school, her other relationships fell apart
and her friends began to reject her. Heartbroken, Sabine confided in her
sister Ute and they agreed to leave their parents. Sabine left her home
with naught but the small nest egg she had (which mostly got spent on beer and
cigarettes), the clothes on her back and her drum sticks.
For days, the two wayward sisters lived on the streets of Thalland City, until
the night they met St. John Cavanaugh, a young man who had lived on the streets
most of his life. St. John befriended the Blasendorf sisters and
together, they searched for a place to live. They found an old, abandoned
building and thought they hit paydirt. Sabine took charge of the trio and
coordinated their efforts to make the place livable. They each employed
their talents to find the money. Knowing how unforgiving Thalland City
was, Sabine wanted to protect herself, and to that end, she purchased a Glock
and trained herself to use the weapon. In her spare time, Sabine would
practice her marksmanship with her firearm or drum on garbage cans.
Sabine thought her life was on the upswing.
Then one day, her friend Christina MacIntyre brought in a human to their
home. The scruffy looking man called himself Bors and asked if he could
stay the night. Sabine and the others allowed him one night.
Although Sabine was somewhat distrustful of the human, deep down she felt a
little bit of attraction, from his charisma and his rugged look. She
could only wonder what had happened to the tired, worn-out looking man.
The next morning, Bors revealed himself as a deity, taking everybody by
surprise. All of them were skeptical at first, but after Bors showed them
his myriad abilities, they believed him. He presented the ideas of his
religion to them, and many of them found the rather loose set of ideas quite
good. The group unanimously joined, but Sabine was most adamant about
it. She disliked how many of the Ruferan religions looked down on
homosexuals and felt that she finally found a belief that tolerated those like
her. In addition, the religion looked favourably upon musicians, like
her. Sabine’s distrust for the man diminished and she grew fond of
him. Bors pursued her constantly and the two would flirt often.
After a few weeks, he said goodbye and left, which left Sabine somewhat confused.
However, soon after Bors left, a demon lord named Azmodan arrived in
Ruferus. His demon hordes rampaged over the land. When Azmodan laid
siege to Thalland City, Sabine’s parents were among the casualties.
Sabine was enraged when she found her parents were killed and rallied the group
against him. Using each of their talents, the group managed to slay
Azmodan and the leaderless demons retreated to their home dimension.
Two years later, Bors returned to Thalland City. Sabine told him what had
happened. Bors was both impressed that they slew a demon lord, but sad to
hear of the death and destruction that had gripped Ruferus. Bors rewarded
the group by bestowing them the status of quasi-deities and invited them to his
plane. Sabine, the only one of them to accept the invitation, was
awestruck by Ossinia, becoming good friends with Bors’ daughter Pamela.
Sabine expressed her desire to become one of Bors’ clerics. Bors agreed
and trained her himself. During her training, Sabine got to know her god intimately,
learning all about his past and his adventures. Their relationship grew
to the point where they became lovers. Sabine felt honoured to be a lover
to her own god, but she felt more than that as well. She loved him
immensely.
Sabine eventually reached the rank of Matriarch, which is just one below Grand
Matriarch of the religion, who happens to be Bors’ daughter, Pamela
Fortinbras. She now had extraordinary powers and spells granted to the
clerics by their god, Bors. Now that she was a master cleric of the Borsite
faith, Sabine returned home to Thalland City, where her friends remained
behind. Her return has brought joy to her friends.
Unfortunately, just after Sabine arrived back in Thalland City, Ruferus was
once again under attack by the demonic forces. This time, however, a
half-Fur, half-demon named Jared Orkney, who was the son of Azmodan and St.
John’s mother, led them. This time, Sabine is ready to fight again, more
powerful than she was during the last demon war…
